Anil Agarwal Foundation's flagship initiative 'Nand Ghar' crosses 8,000 mark in 15 states

New Delhi, April 52025 >> Anil Aggarwal Foundation's (AAF) flagship initiative Nand Ghar has achieved a significant milestone, converting 8,044 Anganwadis into modern centres for the holistic development of women and children. The initiative is spread across 15 states in India and reflects Vedanta's commitment to rural development. So far, more than 3 lakh children and 2 lakh women have benefited from facilities such as early childhood education, nutrition, health care and skill development through Nand Ghar.

Nand Ghar is a modern version of traditional Anganwadis, equipped with advanced facilities. Along with better infrastructure, facilities like smart education tools, interactive e-learning modules, BaLA design and smart TVs are also provided here to make the learning process interesting for children aged 3-6 years. Every centre has facilities of child-friendly furniture, electricity, clean drinking water and clean toilets. Thus, children get a safe and nurturing environment in Nand Ghar. Along with education, Nand Ghar is also working against malnutrition by providing nutritious food to children and essential nutritional support to pregnant and lactating mothers. In addition, health services such as regular vaccination drives and health camps are also provided to further improve the health of the entire community. Nand Ghar is also strengthening women empowerment by engaging women in the community in skill building activities such as handicrafts, food processing and retail. This is enabling women to earn an average income of up to ₹10,000 per month.

Nand Ghar is continuously expanding its reach. 2024-25 has been a special year of achievements. To fight malnutrition, Nand Ghar distributed protein-rich millet shakes in two phases, benefiting children across six states. Patented and FSSAI certified, this millet shake contains 23 essential vitamins and minerals, and is prepared with a blend of coarse grains like ragi, millet, foxtail and kodo. In line with the Government’s efforts to promote the consumption of millets in the daily diet, this initiative by Nand Ghar reflects its commitment towards the national vision of promoting nutritional security by promoting sustainable and locally sourced superfoods.

Speaking on this milestone, Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Chairperson, Hindustan Zinc Limited and Non-Executive Director, Vedanta Limited, said, “The journey of 8,000 Nand Ghars reflects our resolve to transform lives at the grassroots level. These centres are not just modern Anganwadis but gateways of possibilities where children learn, grow and thrive, and women gain the tools and skills to become self-reliant. Nand Ghar is now a nationwide movement and is making a real difference. Our partnership with the Government and the Ministry of Women and Child Development is further strengthening this mission, helping us move forward with purpose and make a meaningful difference in communities across India.”

Speaking further, Shashi Arora, CEO of Nand Ghar, said, “At Nand Ghar, our aim is not limited to statistics but to make a difference in the lives we come in contact with.
